ABEOKUTA—The Corporate Affairs Managers Committee of the Nigerian Insurers Association (CAMCONIA), an elite body of Brand, Marketing, and Corporate Communications professionals in Nigeria’s insurance industry, has wrapped up its annual retreat in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The three-day event brought together over 30 experts in Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing, and Public Relations to re-align goals, foster collaboration, and elevate the industry’s image.
Segun Bankole, Chairman of CAMCONIA and Head of Brand and Corporate Communications at Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, expressed satisfaction with the retreat’s outcome. “We have returned energized, focused, and committed to achieving the ideals of a reinspired CAMCONIA. We are poised for significant visibility and innovation in the coming months,” he said.
Key highlights of the retreat included a refreshed focus on enhancing the industry’s image, identifying strategic priorities for PR and Communications professionals, developing an action plan for presentation to stakeholders, and strengthening collaboration with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). “Our renewed partnership with ARCON opens up new opportunities, and we’re eager to execute our plans,” Bankole added.
The retreat, themed “Leading the Narrative: Shaping the Future of Our Industry,” featured facilitators such as Lara Yeku, Head of HR for the Food Commercial Division at Flour Mills of Nigeria; Tope Adaramola, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB); and Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, Director General of ARCON. The facilitators praised the high turnout and engagement from attendees, with Adaramola remarking, “The future of CAMCONIA is in capable hands, and I’m proud to be part of this renewed energy and drive.”

During the retreat’s Gala Night, Bola Odukale, Director-General of the Nigerian Insurers Association, lauded the committee’s efforts. “Your committee is vital to us. You are the image makers of our industry, the strength behind the insurance brand in Nigeria. I encourage you to continue your important work. Our industry will be better for it,” she said.
CAMCONIA’s retreat has set the stage for an impactful year ahead, as the association gears up to implement its strategic action plan and enhance the perception of Nigeria’s insurance sector.
