Telecom giant Globacom has partnered with insurance firm AXA Mansard Health to introduce an innovative healthcare initiative aimed at making affordable health insurance accessible to Nigerians. The scheme, which combines health coverage with a lottery incentive, allows subscribers to be automatically entered into weekly and monthly raffle draws, offering them a chance to win N1 million.
In a statement, Globacom revealed that the health insurance lottery is designed to reward subscribers, whether or not they utilize the health benefits. “N1 million will be won by any subscriber whose number is picked in the monthly draw. The objective is to reward subscribers irrespective of whether or not they access the health insurance benefits, thereby providing a pay-back benefit to subscribers,” the company explained.
The health insurance package is accessible through multiple channels, including SMS, USSD, and the web. Subscribers can easily dial *3013# from their mobile phones to choose from daily, weekly, or monthly subscription plans priced at N50, N300, and N750 respectively. Each plan offers the flexibility of one-time or auto-renewal options.
Globacom highlighted the convenience of the service, noting that subscribers can connect with medical practitioners via tele-consultation and access free drugs and treatment at thousands of pharmacies across Nigeria. The scheme leverages the Glo network to deliver simple, affordable micro health insurance to subscribers nationwide, regardless of their location.
