The Chairman of the Board of Governors, IoD Centre for Corporate Governance (IoDCCG), Mr. U.K. Eke, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) headquarters in Abuja. The visit focused on advancing corporate governance practices in Nigeria, particularly within the insurance sector.
During the visit, Mr. Eke congratulated Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin on his recent appointment as Commissioner for Insurance, along with the Deputy Commissioners. He expressed confidence in their leadership to deepen insurance penetration and enhance the global competitiveness of the sector.
Mr. Eke also provided an update on IoDCCG’s activities, including a recent strategic retreat that resulted in a 20-point action initiative aimed at recalibrating the Centre. He called on NAICOM to appoint a new representative to the Centre’s Board, following the exit of Mr. Leo Akah.

Mr. Olusegun Omosehin welcomed the IoDCCG team and reaffirmed NAICOM’s commitment to its partnership with the Centre, highlighting the importance of corporate governance in building a resilient insurance sector.
Both parties discussed key issues, including the need for NAICOM-regulated entities to join the Ethics 1st platform for improved capacity-building and internal management systems.
