The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has committed to collaborating with the National Data Protection Commission (NDPC) to enhance data protection within the insurance sector. This pledge was made by Olusegun Omosehin, Commissioner for Insurance and CEO of NAICOM, during a courtesy visit by Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner and CEO of the NDPC, to NAICOM’s office in Abuja.
Omosehin welcomed the NDPC delegation, affirming NAICOM’s readiness to work closely with the NDPC to fulfill the mandates of both agencies. He outlined the key functions of NAICOM and highlighted areas where mutual benefits could be achieved through collaboration.

In response, Olatunji expressed gratitude for the warm reception and explained that the NDPC, as one of the newly established agencies by the Federal Government, was visiting NAICOM to raise awareness about the data protection law. He emphasized the importance of NAICOM’s cooperation in implementing data protection policies among its regulated entities.

Olatunji noted that the NDPC’s initial focus is on creating awareness and building capacity within the sector before moving towards full enforcement of data privacy laws in Nigeria.
