Yetunde Ilori Unveils Ambitious Agenda as Incoming President of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria

Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, set to assume office as the 52nd President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), has revealed a comprehensive four-point agenda dubbed ‘EPIC’ during a press conference held today in Lagos.

The acronym ‘EPIC’ encapsulates Education, Professionalism, Institutional Recognition, and Capacity Building, signaling Mrs. Ilori’s ambitious vision to transform CIIN into a model akin to a Business School for the insurance sector.

Addressing stakeholders and members of the press, Mrs. Ilori emphasized the significance of collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve the goals outlined in her tenure’s theme. She expressed confidence that with collective effort, CIIN can significantly enhance educational programs, promote ethical practices, and foster innovation within Nigeria’s insurance industry.

“We are committed to leveraging technology to bridge knowledge gaps and enhance insurance literacy across the nation,” Mrs. Ilori stated, highlighting the importance of e-education and strategic partnerships to deliver effective learning experiences. She underscored the need to make CIIN a premier destination for insurance education, offering certification programs in collaboration with reputable local and international institutions.

Furthermore, Mrs. Ilori pledged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, aiming to elevate the CIIN’s reputation as synonymous with excellence in the industry. She outlined plans to enhance the CIIN Fellowship program, ensure strict adherence to ethical codes, and promote insurance as a top career choice among talented individuals.

Mrs. Ilori emphasized the importance of capacity building through targeted programs, including strengthening the CIIN Secretariat, developing expertise in niche areas like Marine and Aviation insurance, and fostering collaboration with Nigerian insurance professionals abroad.

Reflecting on her extensive career spanning several prominent roles within the insurance sector, Mrs. Ilori’s leadership journey began at Trans Nigeria Assurance Company Limited and later included strategic positions at Crusader Insurance Plc and AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, where she significantly contributed to business growth and industry development.

Mrs. Ilori is a graduate of Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos and holds professional affiliations with the Chartered Insurance Institute (London) and Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria. Her leadership acumen and dedication to advancing the insurance landscape in Nigeria have earned her widespread acclaim.
