Lagos Governor Urges NSITF Leadership to Uphold Transparency and Accountability

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) leadership to maintain transparency and accountability in their operations. During a courtesy visit by NSITF Managing Director, Oluwaseun Faleye, and the Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Labour, Employment, and Productivity, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for the Fund to deliver quality services to Nigerians in both the public and private sectors.

The Governor expressed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of civil servants, highlighting Lagos State’s existing robust insurance package for its workforce. He affirmed the state’s readiness to collaborate with the NSITF to achieve its goals and improve the benefits for Lagosians.

Sanwo-Olu praised the National Assembly for its dedication to improving Nigeria and for holding the NSITF’s 2-day retreat in Lagos, which aims to address the Fund’s effectiveness. He urged the NSITF to work towards delivering the dividends of democracy to ensure a sustainable future for Nigeria.

NSITF Managing Director, Faleye, sought support from the Lagos State Government, noting that its endorsement would set a positive example for other states. The retreat, themed “Building a Stronger NSITF,” is designed to enhance stakeholder engagement and support the organization’s mission.

Senator Diket Plang, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour, Employment, and Productivity, assured of the National Assembly’s commitment to ensuring the NSITF effectively protects and compensates employees and employers. He commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his exemplary performance and encouraged other governors to learn from Lagos.

Hon. Adefarati, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Labour, Employment, and Productivity, also praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his dedication to worker welfare and Lagos’s progressive wage policies.
