The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has called on insurance companies to actively participate in the recruitment and training of one million Nigerian youths under the “Insurance Empowerment Scheme.” The initiative aims to enhance insurance awareness and provide quality insurance education for young Nigerians.

Speaking at the 16th Insurers’ Committee Meeting in Lagos, NAICOM Commissioner and CEO, Olusegun Omosehin, highlighted the collaboration with Sapphital Learning Limited and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN). The partnership will involve developing training modules, sourcing industry experts for instruction, and issuing certificates to participants.
Amu Ogbeide, CEO of Sapphital Learning Limited, presented a paper titled “Insurance: A Platform for Engaging With a Million Nigerian Youths,” stressing the transformative potential of the program and urging full support from industry stakeholders.
The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria is working with seasoned professionals to design the training curriculum, aimed at equipping participants with foundational knowledge of insurance, increasing industry inclusion, and broadening public awareness.
NAICOM also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Youth Development to launch the program, which is expected to commence soon.
