Niyi Onifade, Managing Director and CEO of Heirs Life Assurance, part of the Heirs Insurance Group, has been elected to the Governing Council of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA). This announcement followed the Association’s 53rd Annual General Meeting held on June 27, 2024.
Onifade’s election is seen as a significant boost to the NIA, reinforcing its mission to modernize the insurance industry and adopt customer-centric policies to engage the public more effectively.

Commenting on Onifade’s election, Bola Odukaye, Director General and CEO of NIA, expressed confidence in Onifade’s expertise and contributions. “We strongly believe your expertise and contributions will significantly enhance the quality of the Council’s deliberations and activities towards positioning the insurance industry to its rightful place in the Nigerian financial services sector,” Odukaye said.
In response, Onifade expressed his dedication to the NIA’s goals. “I am honoured by the Council’s trust in my leadership capabilities and the opportunity given to serve and contribute my quota to the transformation of the Nigerian Insurance industry. This election is also a testament to Heirs Insurance Group’s unwavering commitment to advancing the insurance industry,” Onifade stated.
